A Stunning Watch! By Hapa Chick
With Christmas having just passed us by, I figured I'd give some feedback on this watch. I apologize in advance for the length of this review, but I wanted it to be fairly comprehensive.
I purchased this watch for myself (32 years old), one of my best friends (also 32 years old) and two of my sisters (35 years old & 44 years old) for Christmas. (I put our ages out there as a point of reference regarding the audience I'm discussing in my review. I think this watch will definitely work for people younger than me and will probably work well with older audiences as well.) I was going to order the watch through Amazon.com, but they didn't have the quantity I needed in stock. As a result, I searched online and I purchased it through another retailer for about thirty five dollars less than the price given by Amazon - and they had my desired quantity in stock, to boot! Apparently these watches are pretty popular/hard to find because most of the online retailers I checked were either sold out or they only had one or *maybe* two in stock.
On to the watches...
From the first day I received the watches (about 1-2 weeks before Christmas), I have not taken mine off - except to have my neighbor size it for me. That says a lot, considering that I also purchased the Women's Fossil ES2364 [...] watch as well. This watch was leaps and bounds better than the ES2364, though that watch is nice as well. I have worn it with bummy clothes (such as sweats and yoga pants for physical therapy) and have worn it with nicer, dressier outfits as well. This watch pairs well with every outfit I've thrown at it. I've also worn it while showering and washing dishes with no problems.
Out of the box, this watch was a little big on me, but I have tiny wrists. That worked in my favor because of the three additional recipients I gave the watch to. It fit perfectly on both of my sisters with no resizing necessary; on the other hand, the friend I purchased it for (who happens to be my next-door-neighbor) needed to add a link to hers. Thankfully, her husband is a watch aficionado, so he has watch repair tools at his house. I passed the watch across the fence to her and her husband took the link he removed from my watch and placed it in her watch. Now we're all happy, with perfectly sized watches!
As far as my recipients are concerned, all three of them have been wearing the watch almost nonstop since Christmas. One of my sisters had to take it off because she was going to a party at her friend's house and her friend lives in the 'hood; my sister didn't feel like being robbed when walking to or from her car in that neighborhood because someone saw the bling on her wrist. That same sister wore it to another post-Christmas party (in a much safer neighborhood); at the second party, all of the girls there went ga-ga over the watch and all of them wanted one as well. Hearing the reactions from her friends made me happy, as it's nice to hear that my sister was in the spotlight! Seeing all of my recipients wearing the watch was nice from a gift-givers' standpoint because it's nice to know that the gift you got for someone is actually being used/worn!
Fossil really hit a home run with this watch. It is comfortable enough to be worn at all times. The face is not so large and blinged-out as to be considered gaudy. Because it's both white and silver, it can really be paired with pretty much *any* outfit. I really think that the silver on the links is a nice added touch, as opposed to the plain white band because it gives it an extra layer of depth and thus, wearability. I don't have one single scratch on any part of the watch after wearing it daily for a couple of weeks now, nor have I lost any of the stones from its face/bezel.
The watch is a chronograph-type of watch and as such, it was initially a little tricky for me to figure out how to program the smaller dials (the manual contained in the box with the watch wasn't much help). With a quick internet search, I found that all you need to do is pull the dial out to the second position (the third position - or all the way out - changes the time) and turn the dial backward (or toward you, for a better visual). Pretty much the only complaint I have about this watch is with the chronograph dials - which display a 24-hour clock, the day of the week and the day of the month; the display with the day of the month is pretty tiny. I can read it when I bring the watch near my face (it's not an age/vision thing - the numbers are just super tiny), but with the watch held at a normal distance, it's a little hard to read. I'd say that's a minor issue in the grand scheme of things.
I've owned several Fossil watches in my lifetime. Hands-down, Fossil brand watches have always been quality watches, despite the abuse I've put them through (I'm a cop, so they've seen A LOT of abuse). The only issue(s) I've ever had with any of my Fossil watches has been getting a battery replaced and/or links removed (back to that tiny wrist thing again!). I've also owned watches from other manufacturers, yet Fossil is the brand I return to every time. The watches are reliable and durable, while also being trendy - though I'm not a trend-whore. Should any problems arise, I'll definitely update this review; after two to three weeks of ownership, though, I really have nothing to complain about and I anticipate continuing to wear this as an everyday watch for some time.
Bottom line: get this watch - you won't be sorry! It's really pretty kick-ass and I don't know of many girls who don't like a little bit of bling (in moderation, of course!). It looks far better and more expensive in person than any picture on a website can show. If you're getting this as a gift for a friend/girlfriend/wife/mother, I can almost guarantee that they will LOVE it and you will look like a rockstar for finding them such a great gift.great watch By Boppie
I love this watch. The two tone is really cool looking and the face is beautiful. I have heard that people have problems with the stones falling out but i havent had any problems with that yet. I dont wear the watch to work though, and i only wear it out about once/twice a week. Love it.excelente By Rafael Tesara
