I purchased this watch case for my husband for his birthday. He has several of the bigger watches that would not be able to fit into some of the smaller cases. This case is heavy and seems to be well constructed. The only downside is that it may cost me more money as my husband really likes the way the watches are displayed and it makes them look very nice, so plans to purchase more of the higher end watches now. He feels the lower end watches are not worthy of being put into this case.carbon fiber case By vanman
I was very happy with this watch case. I recieved it as a gift. The case lo0ks great with the carbon pattern. There was enough room for all my watches to clear, since some of my watches are in the 44mm to 50mm size. Having bought a few of these types of boxes now and being totally dissapointed by all of them I think I have an understanding of the sub $150 collectors watch box industry. Too be blunt, it is terrible and they are all made in the orient with absolutely no quality control, but absent the desire to spend $900 on a man-made box and without the time to make my own out of zebra wood or something attractive I am having to settle on an online market that does not offer low-end quality. I am rating this product 3-stars instead of 2 because I have seen comparable models for the price and they are worthless while this product does function properly and is aesthetically pleasing once the bottom drawer's handle is replaced.
The top is glass, not plastic, which is a plus for solar watches and to charge lume's. Plus it is great to be able to peep in and check out your collection from time to time.
The clasp, as another reviewer mentioned, has very fine contact points and is not very easy to open and would be nigh impossible with large fingers. The clasp also doesnt lock very well and needs help when closed softly. It is attractive, however, and adds a very classy modern look to the carbon fiber "leather" weave.
The bottom drawer has a cheap $0.25 handle that suggests the manufacturer used spare parts from another model on this design. It doesnt match (being a polished silver color while the clasp is a gun-metal polished steel) and takes away from the appearance of the box. I removed mine and will be putting a nice velvet fabric in its place or a more modern looking design from Ace hardware or something.
The stability of the box requires the bottom drawer to be inserted as the bottm is a cardboard-like material that would be damaged by virtually any abnormal wear and tear. Also, while the bottom drawer is well made and covered with the carbon fiber "leather" on its entire exterior, the cavity in the box has no paint or matching material and looks like a cheap cardboard opening. The bottom drawer must be left where it is and cannot be removed for watch band/accessory storage. For most this will not be a problem as they are buying this for the extra watch storage and will leave the drawer in the box at all times.
The pillows, as other reviewers stated, are half-moon shaped and not stitched or stuffed very well. At the price point they are about as good as any others I have seen.
I do, however, love the fact that there is about half and inch of clearance between the glass in the top of the box and the tops of the watches. Other boxes I own do not have a recessed pillow compartment and large watches can touch the glass when not carefully placed.
Also, I applauded the packaging in the feedback section and I will do so again here. Product was extremely well packaged and shipped quickly.
Overall this box is above average for the price, has a ton of watch storage, but its problems with the fit and finish and specifically the design flaws for the 2nd drawer will force me to replace this as soon as I can find something better.
